Greetings to everyone,
I want to let everyone know that I just received a call from Mr. A.J. Carter, the Town of Huntington's Public Relations person. His call was to inform us that the WATER IS BEING TURNED ON!
As he explained, Town Supervisor Frank Petrone called the county to ask for proof that the water is unsafe. The county rejected his inquiry, saying that as far as they are concerned, the matter is settled. Mr. Petrone then advised the county that since the people have been drinking this water for over 45 years, and the county has no evidence that it is in any way unsafe, the town would exercise its authority over town property and is turning the water on.
Therefore, the scheduled meeting between the county and the town that was set for July 8 is off, and by the time you receive this email, the water will already be flowing. This is a great day for a victory of the people, and so appropriate that it is happening on the July 4 weekend. Thanks to everyone of you who signed the petition, made a phone call, or sent a letter. Together we prevailed.
Please find a moment to call, write , or email Supervisor Frank Petrone and thank him for his efforts. He does deserve that, and include a thank you to the entire council as well. I'll send out more information when I have it.
Again, thanks to everyone for being a part of the fight.
Happy Fourth!,
Joe
