What YOU Can Do - Please Help!

Please email or call our representatives listed in blue to the right. Be nice. If you call it's likely you will have to leave a message but most, if not all, of the council members will return your call within a day or two. Tell your friends to do the same: just a quick email or call.

Here are some talking points:

  • The water is safe as it's been tested many times.
  • No one in 45 years has been hurt by drinking the water.
  • The water tastes great and is excellent for the skin.
  • Water, like air and sunshine, is free. The government shouldn't be restricting public access to it.
  • If there are safety issues involving icing in the winter, they can be easily fixed by installing some kind of drain.
  • The town can also post a "The Town and County are not responsible for anyone using this water" sign.
  • The water is a reason to come to Cold Spring Harbor/Huntington to shop and enjoy the local flavor.
  • The water is a community gathering spot that's fun and free of all racial, political, or cultural overtones. People actually DO make and maintain friends there.
  • The water is free, cold, and delicious, an oasis for bikers, fishermen, boaters, and pedestrians.
  • The watering spot is a unique natural attraction that gave the area it's very special character.
  • Let the councilperson know that you've gotten updated information at the "Cold Spring Harbor Spring Water" website. They might want to take a look.
  • Finally, thank the councilperson for "doing the right thing" by turning the water on!

The most convincing dialogue focuses on your personal reasons why you miss the water spot and why you'd like to see the water turned back on.

If you meet any resistance (unlikely) we'd like to know from who and what their negative points were so that we can reasonably counter those points (if necessary) in the future. Feel free to contact us for any other reasons. Our contact info is on left menu bar. We thank you for taking a little time to do your part!
